Terracotta warriors

When we travelled in China in 2010, we skipped visiting the terracotta army in Xi’an, just because we had to make choices. Today, an exhibition is visiting The Hague at short distance of our home – of course with replica’s. 8000 terracotta warriors have been created in 10 years time in the late third century BC. The exhibition shows some impressions of this amazing period.

The Hallerbos is a wood south of Brussels in Belgium. During a short period in spring, the wood is covered by a wonderful carpet of bluebells (Hycinthoides).

Vineyards of Lanzarote

Most of the vineyards of Lanzarote are concentrated in the central area of La Geria. Each single vine is planted in an approximately three-foot-deep pit about four to five meters wide and surrounded by semi-circular stone walls called Zocos. The pit protects the vine from the strong winds. The patterns of pits results in interesting views for photographers.

César Manrique (1919-1992) is everywhere on the island of Lanzarote, Spain. Manrique was an artist and an architect and had a major influence on the current landscape and buildings on the island. The photo shows one of the remarkable windmills that can be found on Lanzarote.
